About Redgate

We aim to consistently produce high quality Hereford genetics

by using the best genetic resources possible and

applying innovative management principles.

Redgate concentrates on semen & embryo production.  It operates as –

  • Redgate Poll Herefords - breeding genetically superior animals; and
  • Redgate Genetics International - which selects the ‘best of the best’ bulls & females for semen & embryo production.  Such animals are bred by Redgate or sourced elsewhere in Australia or overseas.

We have a growing following of valued commercial and seed-stock clients in NSW, Victoria & SA. Thank you all.

We have sold semen & embryos in all states of Australia and in New Zealand, Argentina, Canada, United States of America, Scandinavia, United Kingdom & Ireland.  This involves a much larger group of valued clients and contacts and we are constantly receiving enquiries from around the world.  Once again, our sincere thanks to you all.

New markets & opportunities are being actively investigated with this proviso – we are determined to remain a small, tight operation in order to breed genetically superior, structurally sound animals.  Then can we offer the ‘best of the best’ animals & genetics to our clients.

Redgate was established in 2003 by Robert & Moira O’Reilly.  Since the early 1980's, they ran a self replacing commercial herd (of 450 Poll Herefords) producing steers for the supermarket and grass-fed markets.  The next generation of family members, Nicola & Mike, are involved in the business.

Redgate operates at Rutherglen, Victoria, Australia.  Rutherglen is easily accessible from all major centres in NSW and Victoria by car, rail or air services (Albury or Melbourne).

Rutherglen is Victoria’s North East which is a sound farming region that is ideal for food production – cropping, sheep, cattle, dairy, horticulture & viticulture – and is regarded as the food bowl of temperate Australia.

Visitors are always welcome...
