Redgate Poll Herefords is located at Rutherglen in north eastern Victoria.

Rutherglen is near the Murray River, about 50km west of Albury.  It is a sound farming district – cropping, sheep, cattle & viticulture - and has a world wide reputation for outstanding fortified & red table wines.  It is a renowned tourist destination because of its many wineries, gourmet food and high class accommodation.

Robert & Moira O’Reilly are the principals of Redgate.  Before establishing Redgate in 2003 they ran commercial Poll Herefords (450 breeders) producing steers for the supermarket and grass-fed markets.

Redgate is a boutique enterprise concentrating on semen & embryo production.  We breed cattle that are balanced and not extreme in structure or genetics.  We strive without compromise for continuous improvement with each generation.

Cows at Redgate, Rutherglen

There are usually a number of bulls, cows & calves and young cattle at Rutherglen for inspection and sale.  We participate in Stock & Land Beef Week Open Days each year in Autumn & Spring.

Visitors are always welcome at Redgate.

We are always keen to learn from others about their breeding programs & new developments and to explore ways and new ideas, whereby Redgate genetics will ‘add value’.
